image Never leave home without leaving a copy of your passport and/or travel documents with a trusted friend or relative.  If you have no trusted friends or relatives, then hire a lawyer to keep those documents for you.  Pick me!  Pick me!  You’re likely to need her help if you get in trouble overseas, anyway. In the digital age, it’s also easy to scan copies of those documents and email them to yourself.  Always have a backup.  You never know when you’ll lose your passport, or the phone number to the transport company that’s scheduled to pick you up on arrival from your 6:45 a.m. flight.
